Welcome to Rawfeeder.
A BARF DIET FOR DOGS.
If you haven’t started raw feeding yet then your dog is in for a real treat!
Before you get started there are a few rules to raw feeding you need to know and understand but the majority of these have been taken care of for you to make the switch as easy as possible.
It is important to make sure that your pet gets the right balance of meat bone and offal to stay healthy and that balance is primarily made up of 80% meat 10% bone and 10% offal. To insure you do not over feed your pet it is also recommended you feed it approximately 2% of its ideal body weight daily for an averagely active dog.
Now if you are starting to panic about these new rules then don’t, as I said before, most of it has been taken care of as the box of food you have purchased has been specifically designed to feed a 20kg dog for 4 weeks with the correct proportions, which means all you have to do is find out your dogs ideal adult weight and then use the conversion chart to work out how long the box should last.
For example, if you have a 10kg dog the box should last 8 weeks, alternatively, if your dog weighs 30 kg then the box should only last 3 weeks, therefore you will need 2 boxes every 6 weeks. Working out how much to feed does not have to be an exact science and at the end of the day your dog will be the best guide because if it is acting hungry just increase the amount slightly, or if it is overweight already then reduce the amount until you are happy it is at a healthy weight.
If you have never tried your dog on a raw diet before, then for the first few meals, open the chicken or turkey packs first, as these will be the easiest to adjust to while your dog gets used to the change. You will find some of the food packs include some vegetables but it is perfectly acceptable to add your own minced veg to the food if you desire. Some breeders recommend this and it will do your dog no harm at all. Good veg to add are Broccoli, Cauliflower, green Beans, Carrots and squash, all blended with a splash of fish oil. As well as adding vegetables and fish oil it is widely recommended to give your dog a raw egg once a week including the mashed up shell as this provides them with vital minerals they need.
You should also feed your dog twice daily, so half the recommended amount in the morning, and the other half in the evening.
PLEASE NOTE this box contains food for an adult dog and should not be fed to a puppy as a puppies requirements are slightly different.
For further advice and help you may need please refer to websites such as BARF UK and A RAW START EXPLAINED both of which have excellent Facebook forums which are an invaluable source of information.
I hope your dog enjoys his new RAWFEEDER TUCK BOX and look forward to continuing to provide your dog with the best raw food your money can buy.
