How much raw food should my dog eat?
Enter your dog's weight and lifestyle, or add all your dogs, to see how many grams a day to feed, how many rolls, chubs, blocks or tubs that is for the brand you feed, and which box size will last you a month.
Your dog needs about
500g a day
That's 250g a meal across 2 meals.
Free UK delivery on orders over £70. Amounts are a starting point: check your dog's ribs every couple of weeks (easy to feel, not see) and adjust by about 10% if needed. Treats count too.
How the calculator works
Most healthy adult dogs do well on 2 to 3% of their ideal adult bodyweight in raw food each day. Laid back and older dogs sit nearer 2%, active and working dogs nearer 3%. Puppies need much more for their size because they're growing, so they're fed a higher percentage of their current weight, which comes down as they get older.
| Dog's ideal weight | 2% a day | 2.5% a day | 3% a day |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5kg | 100g | 125g | 150g |
| 10kg | 200g | 250g | 300g |
| 15kg | 300g | 375g | 450g |
| 20kg | 400g | 500g | 600g |
| 25kg | 500g | 625g | 750g |
| 30kg | 600g | 750g | 900g |
| 40kg | 800g | 1kg | 1.2kg |
Getting it right for your dog
Every dog is different, so treat the result as a starting point. Check your dog every couple of weeks: you should be able to feel the ribs easily under a thin layer, and see a waist from above. If they're gaining, feed about 10% less. If they're getting lean, feed about 10% more.
Supreme Raw, Stobart and K9 Raw come in 454g packs, Reggie's and Raw Pet Treat in 500g packs, so pick your brand above to get the right count. Got more than one dog? Tap Add a dog, fill in each one, and the calculator adds them together so you can order one box for the whole house. Feed a different brand? Choose Other brand and enter the size of one pack from the label.
Lean or rich food?
The 2 to 3% rule assumes a typical complete raw food with around 10% fat. Fat carries more than twice the energy of protein, so a lean food at around 5% fat has roughly a quarter less energy per gram, and a fatty mince at 15% or more has roughly a quarter more. If you mostly feed one protein, or your food is noticeably lean or rich, enter the fat % from the label and the calculator will adjust the grams for you. Feeding a variety of proteins tends to even this out.
